1967 was the debut year for the Camaro and shared some of the mechanics of '68 Chevy II Nova and offered three models in the first year. The RS, and appearance package that offered hidden headlights, revised taillights, RS badging, and exterior rocker trim.
The SS model included non-functional air inlets on the hood, special striping, as well as SS badging on the grille, front fenders, gas cap and horn button. This version came with a 350 (5.7L) V8 engine and also available were L35 and L78 big-block V8's.
Chevrolet also released a Z/28 model that was widely unknown to consumers and only sold 602 models that year and was specifically designed to compete in the Trans Am series that required engines smaller than a 5.0L. Key features included an upgraded suspension and racing stripes.
